Music Of The Night

Music of the Night The Royal Citadel, Plymouth Hoe Monday 16 to Friday 20 July 2012

Music of the Night began in 1992 to commemorate the re-dedication of the Royal Citadel after its refurbishment. With a cast of hundreds of local amateur singers and dancers of all ages and the professional musicians of the Royal Artillery and Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, the final production of Music of the Night will be hosted by 29 Commando Regiment Royal Artillery in celebration of the unit’s fiftieth anniversary, with profits from the performances donated to local and military charities.

29 Commando Gunners 50th Anniversary Parade

Plymouth City Centre Saturday 21 July 2012 11.45am

To celebrate their 50th anniversary the 29 Commando Gunners will exercise their freedom to parade their colours through Plymouth  and will march from Buckwell Street down Royal Parade from St Andrew’s Cross roundabout to Derry’s Cross roundabout and back up Royal Parade to the Royal Citadel. The Lord Mayor Michael Wright will take the salute from the troops on Royal Parade.

Armed Forces Day National Events Plymouth Events

SATURDAY 30 JUNE

Day of exhibitions and displays on land, on sea and in the air on Plymouth Hoe with late afternoon and evening entertainment on the Hoe and the Barbican.

It will be followed on the Sunday 1 July with Sea Sunday and churches will come together to remember our seafarers.

Between 10am to 11.30am the annual RAF and Allied Air Forces Monument Service will take place Plymouth Hoe at the war memorial together with the band of the Royal Air Force.

11.15am a thanksgiving service at Sea Sunday service at the Minster Church of St Andrew dedicated to all those who serve in the Royal and Merchant Navies and ‘they that go down to the sea in ships and occupy their business in great waters’ will take place.

At Midday there will be Forces Family Day hosted by the Friends of Devonport Park to celebrate Devonport’s naval and military heritage, including a concert on the new bandstand in Devonport Park, with music provided by the Soundhouse Brass and the Devonport Park Choir together with a wide variety of entertainment and fun activities.
